What is a Goldendoodle?
A Goldendoodle is a cross-breed or hybrid dog created by breeding a golden retriever with a poodle. There are a couple of different breed generations or breed status related to the goldendoodles.
The Goldendoodle is usually bred to be a family companion dog. Goldendoodles are perfect pets for families with severe dog allergies, as long as the goldendoodle has inherited hair characteristics from its poodle ancestors. Some Goldendoodles area bred for careers as guide, therapy, and other types of service dogs.
Like any other cross-breed, the appearance of goldendoodles vary from each. Different dogs will display differences in size, coat types, and color. There are three main coat types; straight, wavy, and curly. A Goldendoodle size is generally somewhere between the size of its poodle and golden retriever parents' size.
Because golden retrievers and poodles are both intelligent dogs, goldendoodles usually share this trait. Goldendoodles are generally great family pets due to their calm demeanor.
